myspace backgrounds with quotes

ok now I have Photoshop CS3 and if I want to write a quote or something download to photobucket and put myspace, I want there to be a transparent background. if what I do is usuaully just erase all history. he has this background checked and the text. but when I save it as a PNG image. or. gif, it leaves a 0 byte. I do not get that then how do I do that. HELP!
That should not make a difference, but if you go File – Save As – then select png, try to go File – Save for Web. A window will pop up in the preset menu, select the setting you want. At this point, you should see a preview of the image exactly as it will appear when recording. If it shows up there, it will save just fine.
