HELP! My Computer Mic suddenly stopped working!?

i have a PC and i’ve been using this headset with a mic on it as my device for recording my sounds (eg: on sound recorder, mix-craft etc). just tonight i downloaded the ksolo myspace karaoke thing and then it just stopped working. it won’t record any sounds anymore on any program i try. i checked all plugs….please help i need the mic to work!
thanks ‘j h’ but it only had one option as the default sound. but i realized something…if this will help anyone help me. when i opened sound recorder & presses record, it recored the music i have playing. even when i turned the volume off so i couldn’t hear it anymore, i played it back and it recorded the sound. WHAT? help pleassse.

probably when you downloaded the software it changed you mic settings… here is the fix in general terms:
start – control panal – sound & audio – audie tab – now you should be able to see & change “default device” for speakers & mic… many time the program will change mic or speaker settings on the default device to one that is not being used or desired to be used such as the hookups on front of computer or the onboard audio device if you are using a audio card
