Creator myspace layout help? 10 points to right answer?

Im trying to make a new myspace layout for my band, but im a hard time with the image I want to use. I use nuclear century to my pages. My image is large enough, but I get always those ugly borders on the sides that do not look good in any color. I wish I had my pick, or take the whole page or to separate a larger pic (scroll) in the background and my main photo (fixed) over this. In this case, I would use the texture on the outside. Im taking a web design class right now, but I was hoping there was a way or a better editor free layout that would allow me to do and perhaps even let me customize my profile a little more. I can not afford to have someone do it for me if you know a solution for get rid of these horrible border please let me know. I do not want to divide the peak rate, I tried it and it looks horrible i jus t want the peak to be free border of solid color so it looks more professional. 10 points to best correct answer, of course.
